Not long after this book was written, we learned that the Eugenia Moran, the tugboat featured in the rescue, had been sent to Baltimore, Maryland to work. The reason given by the Piscataqua river pilots was that work along the Portsmouth waterfront had declined by 20 percent this past year, and was not enough to sustain the three tugboats that typically assist along the river. The pilots--and those of us who love the tugboats--hope this is a temporary situation and that the Eugenia Moran soon returns home.
